This year we have moved our usual Advent visit to Vienna to mid-September so that we coincide with a series of exciting performances. Our visit will include:
- La Traviata at the Vienna State Opera when Domingo Hindoyan is joined by a superstar line up of singers including Lisette Oropesa, Juan-Diego Florez and Ludovic Tezier
- Vienna Symphony Orchestra under their new Chief Conductor Petr Popelka in the legendary Golden Saal of the Musikverein perform Arnold Shönberg’s monumental choral oratorio Gurre Lieder – widely considered the final pinnacle of late Romanticism
- Martha Argerich & Sophie Pacini in recital at the Konzerthaus with a programme of works including Mozart's popular Sonata in D major K 375 and Liszt's ‘Réminiscences de 'Don Juan’
We stay as usual at the 4* Hotel am Konzerthaus just one block off the Ringstrasse. and include a full programme of sightseeing including a visit to the Beethovenhaus in Heiligenstadt (where he wrote his infamous ‘Testament’). We also visit Grinzing and have dinner at the renowned wine heurigen Mayer am Pfarrplatz
The tour includes four dinners with wines, one lunch and café und kuchen (coffee & cake) on two days.
